Cute, steamy read with just a touch of suspense.

A chance encounter on an airplane and a week-long conference brings together protagonists, Kat and Mac, two wine aficionados with sizzling chemistry and a cool confidence that draws them together like opposite sides of a magnet. The vacation-like setting of the conference has the pair dropping their inhibitions and taking full advantage of their mutual attraction, but, what they don’t anticipate is that their no-strings-attached, strictly physical fling would turn into something more. Loved It!

I loved the first two books in this series, and was really looking forward to Kat's book. It did not disappoint.
Seduction, is the new sexy, trendy restaurant/bar in Portland. Owned by five women, best friends who are all smart, beautiful and talented. Kat runs the bar.
After surviving her worst fear (flying) with the help the sexy man seated next to her. She is bound and determined to enjoy her wine conference. Even more so, when her seat mate turns up at the same place. Kat decides Mac is just the thing she needs for a perfect sexcation. Neither wanting anything long term. Enjoy the week, and go their separate ways.
Going their separate ways is harder, when it turns out, not only does Mac live in Portland. He also works within walking distance of the restaurant, and has just moved into Kat's building.
Two people, completely and totally against relationships, suddenly find it impossible to be apart. They calm each other. Mac helps Kat sleep, something she has never been able to do. Kat helps Mac understand and accept his family issue. They fit.
This was a quick read. Very low drama and angst. Just a nice getting to know you and fall in love story. I loved catching up with the first two couples, and look forward to the next one.

I have loved every book in this series but very rarely do they get better as the series goes on. This is the exception to that rule. This was my favorite book of the series so far. The perfect mix of laughs love and drama.

Kat is the bada** of the group. A Mensa genius with her own style who is also willing to throw a punch to protect the ones she loves. She is extremely independent and not looking for a man to fill a void.

Mac is a business owner, brother and all around good guy. He isn't looking for anything serious either when he meet Kat, but something about her brings out his protective instincts.

They agree to be each other's sexcation buddy when they see each other at a conference they are both attending and so begins a week of nonstop Hotness.

When they are both back in the real world they both crave what they had when they were together but will they have the strength to go after what they want?

And what happens when the unexpected happens and Kat is fighting for her life?

Great Characters. Great Story. Great Series. Can't wait for the next book.

A very disappointing book on a potentially fascinating subject. ...

A very disappointing book on a potentially fascinating subject. It's poorly organized and badly written, as if the author had done lots of research on anything related to Turkey, modern or ancient, then put his research notes in order by topic and just transcribed the lot as if that constituted a readable manuscript. It's often unclear what time period he's discussing, as if all aspects of culture in the Ottoman Empire remained unchanged from beginning to end. When he does mention dates, in one paragraph you'll be reading about some 1950s ethnographic research (post-Ottoman), the next sentence speaks of 1885, and then come two descriptive sentences with no indication of what time period is involved. Statistics are occasionally flung in with no attempt to say why they might be relevant to the topic being discussed. I have not seen the hardback editions, but in the trade paperback edition, the illustrations are all black-and-white, some of them rather murky.

"The Private World of Ottoman Women" is an ill-fitting title. It's disorganized, with infrequent allusions to women, which seem to be hastily jotted down as if Goodwin only remembered at the last moment the topic of his book. Which would be more or less forgivable on the basis that there is a distinct lack of women's perspective in all history, if the historical facts in question weren't also frequently tinged with a sexist hue.

Serena Roney-Dougal, PhD has a psychology degree from University College, London and a PhD in parapsychology. Introduction to the Looking-Glass Reality The biggest implication of psi phenomena is that we are potentially aware of everything in the entire universe. As mentioned in Chapter 1, experimental research over the past fifty years has confirmed that awareness of psi is dependent on one's state of consciousness, one's attitude, motivation, relaxation and other psychological (mental) aspects. We are separated from this potential omniscience by the thinnest of veils. In scientific terms this veil is call 'filter theory'. We would go totally crazy if we were aware of everything in the entire Universe even for only one second; so we need filters to block out all but the most essential items from our conscious awareness. Unfortunately this trend has gone too far, and the pressures of living in a city have made most city people so blocked that they aren't even aware of what their close friends and family are feeling, let alone whether or not some distant relative is in need of help. We have as a race become insensitive - or desensitised, mainly as a result of living in cities where the pressure of so many people and all their thoughts and emotions is so great that we have to blank out all but the most immediate perceptions or go totally crazy. So now we have to reverse the trend and become more aware, more sensitive, open up the filters a little bit, and open our psychic, as well as our physical, eyes and ears. This of course is easiest in the country! Some people call this process of increasing awareness 'becoming aware of the subconscious', since it is only in conscious awareness that we are so blocked, and the potential omniscience is all there in the subconscious. In becoming aware of the subconscious per se, we also tend to become aware of psychic information. This information is different from most subliminal information in that it was never physically present; we know something that we have never physically heard or seen or felt. The psychic information of which we become aware when we open up to the subconscious has come in by means other than our eyes or ears or other sense, possibly through the 'third eye'. In trying to understand this process by which psychic information is available I shall be travelling through some pretty strange waters. Thresholds and the subconscious Conscious experience is a very limited channel. We can, it is now accepted, be conscious of only about 7 things at any one time. Yet there are 10 thousand million neurones ........

Very Powerful Insights !!!

This very well researched book delves into everything from: Universal Patterns, PSI reasearch, Breaking down rituals to see why and how they work;
How our own PSI and Anti-PSI abilities affect the successful outcomes of our spells, meditations, prayers.
The psychological factors that either help or hinder our ability to affect our destinies.
She goes into theorize about the Pineal Gland is really the third eye, and how science backs this up. Overall a lot of research is presented here to tie in science(including Quantum Physics, magick, anthropology and parapsychology. Actually rather easy to read considering how much information is contained.

Extraordinary Synthesis of Scientific & Occult Material

I read this book years ago, soon after it was published and was blown away by it's even-handed treatment of the material. In particular, the analysis of the pineal gland as the biological equivalent of the "third eye" is exceptional. Skeptics should "subject" themselves to this material which may transform their views and widen their perspective. A thoroughly well-written piece on the physical reality of magick in all of it's forms. I eagerly await Dougal's next work.

Excellent source material.

Where Science and Magic Meet is one of the source books I use for a survey class I occasionally teach. The book provides information from both a mystical and scientific perspective, without being too *airy-fairy* or b-o-r-i-n-g. I find it very useful as an introduction for folks with no background in the genre and who are skeptical of the idea that *Magick* works. She explains it beautifully.

Difficult

Perhaps it is because the ideas themselves are so difficult but I found this work very hard to understand. Leach uses much technical terminology and perhaps this helps those within the world of ethnology but I found myself double and triple- reading passages. Still to read about 'Triste Tropique', the supreme spiritual and intellectual adventure of Levi- Strauss is proof of Pliny's dictum, that there is 'no book that does not give something of value.'

Practical Emotional Intelligence Guidebook

E.Q. Librium is part textbook--and part guidebook. Some of the book does deal with very technical aspects as the author analyzes emotional intelligence. This does give the book a textbook tone at times. Having said that; however, the author illustrates her ideas via real world case studies and helps readers utilize that textbook information in very practical, real-world based exercises.

E.Q. Librium offers a useful resource for managers, employees and students alike. This book shares a lot of well defined technical information regarding emotional intelligence--but, does so in a very practical way. The passages are short, easy to understand--and include a number of exercises and activities to practice the material learned throughout the book. While I can certainly see this book as a useful guide to business managers and professionals--it is presented in such a manner that anyone is able to use the book to better attain their own goals and personal results.

Would I recommend E.Q. Librium by Yvette Bethel? We live in a very emotionally charged world--where technology has taken away some of our innate human interactions. I think many of us forget the role emotions play in our thoughts, actions and events of our days. While this book may be intended for the career oriented/business world--I think it has an even greater value to daily life and our own daily interactions. Emotions drive our behaviors--and our small successes and failures. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking to understand or to re-think our human, emotional responses--or trying to correlate behaviors in those around us to situations and events. This is a great book for those of us asking why we do the things we do--and how we can re-wire ourselves (and encourage others) to do things better or more successfully.

The Perfect Guide to Helping Others Manage Staff and Emotions

One of the things I love is learning about myself and last year I did a course at work all about Emotional Intelligence , so when I had the opportunity to read and review EQ Librium, I jumped at the chance as I find all this information quite interesting and useful. EQ Librium is basically a guide that every working person and especially if you find yourself in a managing position that you should read as it is helpful and will open your mind to a whole lot of new ways to cope with your emotions and the emotive state of others around you. The book is split into two parts, the first is the theories and the different information specs about your emotions - which often if you are not a reader, you could find a tad boring as it does feel like it goes on and on. The second half is the perfect balance for those who love practical work as it is filled with excercises and reflections and to put into practice what you have covered in Part #1. The book is fairly easy to read, with any jargon explained in boxes throughout, there are plenty of case studies throughout demonstrating how the techniques explained actually work, I found these particularly helpful. E.Q. Librium is very worth reading if you work in an office, manage people or aspire to management. Having a better grip on your emotions will help you manage your own life if nothing else.
